A self-propelled scissor lift is a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) designed to safely raise workers, tools, and materials to elevated work areas. Unlike push-around models, it features an integrated electric or engine-powered drive system, allowing the operator to easily maneuver it to the job site and reposition it while elevated, all from the platform controls.
The core mechanism is a set of linked, folding supports (the scissor mechanism) that extend vertically using hydraulic or electric power. This creates a large, stable work platform surrounded by guardrails. Operators control both the lift's vertical movement and its horizontal travel using a control panel located on the platform itself.
