A crawler scissor lift is a highly maneuverable and compact elevating work platform (EWP) that combines the straightforward vertical lift of a scissor mechanism with the exceptional mobility and stability of a tracked undercarriage. Designed for challenging access and terrain, it replaces traditional wheels with low-ground-pressure crawler tracks.
Its defining feature is the linked, folding scissor mechanism powered by hydraulics or electricity, providing stable vertical elevation for the work platform. Crucially, this mechanism sits atop independently controlled crawler tracks. These tracks offer superior traction on slopes, uneven ground, soft surfaces, and even steps or curbs. Their low weight distribution minimizes impact on sensitive floors.
Operators control both vertical lift and track movement (forward, reverse, steering, and often leveling) from a single panel on the platform, enabling precise positioning without needing to descend. Many models are compact enough to fit through standard doorways and feature stowable or rotating tracks for transport.
